BEACH VOLLEYBALL COACHING IN DURBAN, 2 to 6 May 2018

Nine South African provincial beach volleyball coaches seized the opportunity to up skill themselves at the FIVB’s  five (5) day beach volleyball clinic  hosted by Volleyball South Africa (VSA) at Durban’s Coastlands Hotel at the Beach. The clinic is the first of its kind to be hosted in the country since the inception of the coaching programme by the FIVB in beach volleyball  three years ago.

The practical aspects of the course will be conducted at New Beach, a popular venue for provincial and national beach volleyball tournaments.

FIVB instructor, Professor Dr.Hans Voigt who hails from Germany will put the coaches through their paces over the 5 day period.

Professor Voight who holds a Phd in Psychology was Head of Sports Science at the University of Bochum in Germany. The 73 year old has a wealth of experience as a coach in the indoor and beach volleyball discipline of the sport.

Having joined the FIVB as a beach volleyball instructor in 1995, Voight has travelled around the world, courtesy of the FIVB to conduct clinics to fast track coach competence.

According to Voight he has conducted over one hundred courses in beach volleyball over a twenty four year period.

“The Durban beach volleyball clinic will focus on coach development w.r.t. teaching beginners on how to play the sport and secondly to instil in the participants basic ideas to teach and coach the sport, added the FIVB instructor.
